Who Are We?


Mission Statement:

The Alberta Camping Association is dedicated to promoting, organizing, and advancing camps in Alberta.

 

The Alberta Camping Association (ACA):

  • Believes that the camp experience enriches the lives of children, youth, and adults; builds engaged, capable citizens and leaders, and facilitates holistic, lifelong development.
  • Strives to increase public awareness of organized camping in Alberta.
  • Helps the general public identify safe, healthy, well run camps through the ACA Camp Accreditation Progam.
  • Is a not-for-profit organization that has been working towards the betterment of organized camping in Alberta since 1949.
  • We have 2 staff at our office in Edmonton:  Kathryn  Rambow, executive director; and Farzana Bardai, program & services coordinator.  We also have a seasonal accreditation coordinator.

What is "CAMP?"  

Camps in Alberta are many things: recreational day programs, residential camps, religious camps, outdoor education centres, specialized camps for kids with illnesses or other special needs- and all meet 4 or 5 of these criteria:
