“There exists in everyone an outlandish thirst for adventure!”

Explore the Canadian Rockies, reflect and recharge, learn about yourself, make friends and create lasting memories while you embark on the adventure of a lifetime!

Outward Bound Canada offers summer camp expedition courses for youth ages 14 through 19 throughout Canada, including Alberta’s beautiful Rocky Mountains. Their focus is on wilderness education, individual resiliency development and compassion.  On these Rocky Mountain adventure courses, students will be surrounded by rugged mountains, glacier-carved valleys, mountain lakes and alpine meadows. Such pristine surroundings help put life into perspective and encourages constant reflection. It is the perfect setting for quality outdoor education and personal growth.

Rocky Mountain Programs

These programs are designed for youth who might not have any prior experience hiking or spending time in mountains. It will teach safe mountain travel, how to pack a backpack, outdoor cooking and meal prep, minimal impact camping, navigation and compass work, route-finding skills, how to access and avoid hazards and how to move across scree and snow slopes.

This adventure also includes a 48-hour solo experience where students will prove their skills while being supervised, from a distance, by their experienced instructors. This gives participants the chance to reflect on what they have learned, a time for self discovery and to leave behind anything that will no longer serve them in the future.

Youth will also get a high school credit for this course through activities, group discussion and analysis and daily journaling.
