A night sleeping outside in a traditional tipi after a day of archery, swimming and lots of outdoor exploration. Maybe you had a high and wild time on the adventure course!? Sounds pretty awesome! That’s just some of the action-packed programming your little campers will experience at Camp Tamarack!

Camp Tamarack is located near Grande Prairie, Alberta. It is a wilderness camp facility that provides outdoor environmental, cultural, educational and recreational programs that enhance the personal development of people of all ages and abilities.

A Brief History

This great camp started out from an idea of developing a wilderness camp that is a barrier-free for the use of people with disabilities.  Over the years more land was acquired, and development was an ongoing process. In the summer of 1985, Camp Tamarack ran it’s first programs. They were offered to physically and mentally challenged participants and seniors citizens. These integrated programs, which were a day camp only, were very successful.

Camp Tamarack is now widely known as a reputable summer program for people with and without disabilities. It has also evolved from a Day Camp, to an overnight camp with the capacity to sleep up to 55 participants in cabins and 40 plus in Teepees. The facilities are available to renters all year round.

Summer Camp Programs

Camp Tamarack offers a variety of summer programs for children of all ages, with and without disabilities. All the programs are sleep-away camps. Camp programs are developed to be age appropriate and will give your children the opportunity to try new things, learn new skills, explore nature, make new friends and have an unforgettable experience!

Activities vary depending on the camp program. Some activities your campers might enjoy include swimming, archery, climbing wall, tipi camp outs, horseback riding, mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, science experiments, games, sports, wilderness skills, creative arts, campfire and more!
