CCA Award of Excellence

General - award mikeThe CCA AWARD OF EXCELLENCE shall be the Canadian Camping Association’s way of recognizing a person’s contribution to camping within their province. The award is intended to recognize individuals, volunteers, camps, agencies or corporations who have made outstanding (i.e., beyond the norm) contributions within their province.  Jill Dundas, the President of the Canadian Camping Association presented this award to Mike Nelson who is the past Director of Camp Cadicasu.

Mike Nelson, Camp Cadicasu

Mike was the Camp Director at Camp Cadicasu for 25 years before retiring in 2013.  Here are some comments from the Camp Cadicasu regarding his contributions to that camp and the camping industry in Alberta:

His commitment to maintaining the integrity and the culture of the camp to be focused on providing generations of children an opportunity to live together in a camp environment with a sense of community, spiritual support and consistently delivering a high level of wonder through fun and adventure. Many campers and staff over the years have thought of Camp Cadicasu as a “home away from home” – That is due, in large part to the sense of energy, commitment and passion of Mike as the Managing Director.

We are indebted to Mike’s vision and commitment for propelling us to our present position as a model of excellence in the children’s camp community. His work has assured our success as we move into the future of Camp Cadicasu.
