Paddle Alberta River Tripping Leader Course
Date: June 29, 2013 to July 3, 2014 (4 days)
Where:   North Saskatchewan River, Rocky Mountain House

Over four days this course will cover the content offered in the Paddle Alberta River Trip Leader Course. This course will take place on the North Saskatchewan River and also involve an overnight trip on the river by Rocky Mountain House. Through instruction, practice, feedback and evening theory sessions, successful participants will gain the certification to lead(groups) on rivers single or short duration overnight trips up to and including a Class II designation. Rapids will be avoided.

Pre-requisites: Paddle Alberta Tandem River Instructor, Paddle Canada Intro River Instructor, or the ability to carve on and offside S and C turns in a tandem canoe in Class 2 water. Effective Rescue Skills. This course requires proficiency in all strokes and maneuvers. Time will be allotted to tuning up maneuvers.

June 29th and 30th, participants will be in Rocky Mountain House camping or staying in a cabin at Pioneer Ranch Camp. July 1 will be spent camping on the river during the overnight.

Participants are expected to supply own boats, safety equipment and camping gear. Rentals available from Pioneer Ranch Camp.

About the Instructor: Ryan Lemphers 

Ryan Lemphers has been teaching paddling on rivers and lakes in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario since 1997. He has experience teaching youth and adults, with many years working in summer camp out-tripping settings. Ryan is a PC Advanced Tandem Moving Water Instructor Trainer and an Instructor Trainer for all PA Courses. In addition, he is a certificated teacher in Southern Alberta. Ryan specializes in teaching finesse and efficiency through the MITH (Momentum, Initiation, Tilt and Hold) methodology.
