We are a not-for-profit organization and a community of camp professionals, seasonal employees, volunteers, and supporters of organized camping, committed to the highest standards of quality and safety for camp programs and facilities in Alberta. A camp must achieve ACA Accreditation to be a full-fledged camp member of the ACA. Businesses that service camps and campers form our commercial membership. Membership in the ACA is voluntary.

Alberta Camping Association Membership

Membership in the Alberta Camping Association is open to anyone with an interest in the betterment of organized camping in Alberta. Camps, individuals, camp staff, related association, students and commercial groups are important members of the organization.

There are 6 classifications of membership:

Camp

Available to any board or committee of any agency, church, educational operator, recreation board, or organization that administers, sponsors, or operates, in the Province of Alberta, one or more camping or outdoor education programs of any duration. An applicant in this membership classification must be approved by the Board of Directors. If approved for membership, the Camp has up to two years to become accredited through the Standards Manual of the Alberta Camping Association. For more information on accreditation, please contact the ACA Office. This is a voting membership.

Commercial

Available to professionals who represent a business that supplies, or wishes to supply, goods and services to the ACA and its members. This is an immediate and non-voting membership.

Associate

Available to associations and organizations that neither administer or operate a camp program but wish to remain informed of current issues affecting camping in Alberta. This is an immediate and voting membership.

Individual

Available to any individual, aged 18 years or older, wishing to further the Mission of the ACA and with an interest in organized camping in Alberta. This is an immediate and voting membership.

Student

Available to any full-time student, aged 18 years or older, holding a current student ID Card, wishing to further the Mission of the ACA and with an interest in organized camping in Alberta. This is an immediate and voting membership.

Honourary

Honourary membership is restricted to persons appointed by the Board of Directors or recipients of the Don Smith Award, in honour of Donald Smith, to recognize those individuals or groups providing an outstanding contribution or service to camping in Alberta. This is a lifetime non-voting membership.
