$3,400 - $4,000 per month

About Us:

Camp Tamarack in Grande Prairie aims to provide an inclusive and barrier free outdoor camping experience through accessible, fun-filled and innovative programs within a safe and positive environment that nurtures personal and social development.
We strive to provide people of all ages and abilities a peer-supported outdoor experience in a safe and welcoming environment, to enhance the quality of life and create positive opportunities while discovering one’s potential.
The Summer Camp Director is the visionary member of the leadership team and will set the tone and implement the camp mission. This person oversees the day-to-day camp operations while establishing and maintaining positive and professional relationships with clients, staff, alumni and the Board of Directors.


Completed or working on a post-secondary diploma or degree.
Some senior leadership experience, ideally in a camp or recreation setting

Ability to work independently and collaboratively to effectively plan and organize the operations of the camp.
Demonstrate positive leadership attributes, time management and organizational skills.
Able to complete a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Persons Search and obtain a clear Child Welfare Check.
Have a valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certificates, or willing to obtain.
Preferred Alberta Class 2 Driver’s License, Recommended Alberta Class 4 Driver’s License, or willing to obtain.
Preferred Adventure Course Challenge Technologies (ACCT) Level 2, or willing to obtain.
Responsibilities Include:

Marketing and Social Media
Contact schools with newsletters and/or presentations to share camp information.
Manage and maintain social media pages – Facebook and Instagram.
Create and order appropriate print materials, as required.
Human Resources
Hire a staff team through online postings and interview all staff.
Develop and implement a mission-focused orientation and training program.
Create a culture of staff feedback, discussion and self-improvement.
Public Relations
Manage positive or negative feedback during the camping season and inform Board members of any exceptional issues.
Use Campwise registration software to assist the Office Manager with setting up registrations and assisting families with the registration process.

Summer Camp Programming
Manage and maintain a professional work-place environment that caters to the abilities of all people
Create opportunities for growth and development of staff and clients.
Determine and organize weekly themes, schedules, trips and special guests.
Maintain all records and oversee the use of the Adventure Course (Zip Lines, Giant Swing, Climbing Tower, Low Ropes and Initiative Elements).

Facility Management
Ensure the cleanliness of all buildings and grounds.
Communicate all maintenance and repair concerns to the appropriate Board member.
Manage and maintain a clean and effective kitchen team that provides healthy, wholesome meals.

Establish and work within an established budget and monitor incomes and expenditures regularly.

 Collect any cash camper fees and forward to the Treasurer.

General Information:
The Summer Camp Director position could be extended to a full-time/ year-round position for the right applicant.
Salary is negotiable based on experience, paid monthly with 50% of health benefits available.
On-site housing is provided.
